PE landing

Oakley, CA

It turns out that the school next door's fields are also the landing pad for East East County Medi-Vac. So today, during the middle of school, they ushered all the PE kids to the side and landed the helicopter. My father used to say there was nothing like the sound of a huey. If they sounded anything like this copter I understand now a little bit of what he meant.

Chop Cop

Antioch, CA

I came home tonight to 4 cops with shotguns running down the street two streets over. Then on my street was 5 additional cop cars. Overhead was the county Sheriff's helicopter. Instead of going and photographing the men with guns (because I knew my father would kill me if I did), I opted to take pictures of the circling helicopter.

Watching Airplanes

San Leandro, CA

This is the first of 9 in a series. I promised a friend a plane photo a month for the rest of the year.

MN: This is where I took the shot and this is where my truck was at. This is where I will take the July picture from.

Fed Ex Air

Oakland, CA

I occasionally volunteer for a theatre in Oakland. On Friday night the theatre's $24000 light board fried on the inside. At 6 AM the manufacturer bought a cargo space on Southwest Airlines and sent the theatre a new light board. Being the only guy on crew with a truck, I got to drive out to Oakland International to pick it up today. I was this close to some really big planes.
