This is my last day of photo a day. 1000 days of daily posting is enough for me. From now on, I'll post at three other spots, but I won't be posting here and I won't be posting daily. Feel free to continue to follow me at my Adventures Blog, my Portfolio Blog or my "For the Sake of Pictures" blog. Thank you for your loyalty for the last 1000+ days.

A new Eagle Scout

Fremont, CA

I went to a friend's Eagle Court of Honor tonight. I've known him since he was 4, so it was a real pleasure to see him achieve this award. I too am an Eagle Scout and know the joy tonight will give my friend for years to come.

Wedding balls and cakes

Fremont, CA

I over came my fear of wedding receptions and went to the first one in over 5 years tonight. I took Amy and Robin with me. They both knew the groom. I not only have known the groom for 8 or 9 years, but I've known the bride since she was born. Additionally, the reception was attended by people that have known me since I was 2; People I adopted as mom after my mom died; people who helped get me my eagle or taught me how to build roofs. And many of these people I haven't seen for a year at least. So it was nice going "home" again to see friends from the past and watch a union for the future.

(a note on the cake - each layer was a different flavor and my friend Barbara made it. She went to a culinary school and is probably the best pastry chef I know.)

There is a party over here a party over there

Antioch, CA

I got home from a date with Amy at 1 AM this morning. When I arrived, the party I was trying to avoid was still in full swing. It ended at about 2:45. I stayed up to help do the initial clean up (over 2/3 of the recycling cart is full of beer bottles). While the party was still going on I took this shot and those in BTC.

(There are 8 bottles of different types of Alcohol in this picture. Can you identify them?)

Two Year Anniversary

Pleasanton, CA

Two years ago today on a whim I started a Photo A Day blog. Except for that one day, I've posted a picture a day for the full two years.

Last year I celebrated with Ice Cream in a paper cup. My dad's, now, ex-girlfriend gave us crap about that so this year we went out and got a good meal and cheesecake. Next year I'll just buy a restaurant.

blue

Oakland CA

I went to a friend's 50th Birthday party tonight. At some point, my friend's wife asked me if I would play with the grand kids so her kids could enjoy some time with their dad. I played ball with this little guy for the rest of the night. When he came over later to say good bye and thank you, he had this 'bwoo' balloon. He kept talking to me through it. It was so cute I had to take a picture.

yet another violin soloist

Oakland, CA

After feeling like crap all day long - I went to the symphony tonight. There were two soloists: This lady and some 10 year-old piano playing kid. I was out in the lobby listening to the 10 year-old and playing with a friend's kid, so no pictures of him - but pictures of the violinist for ya tonight.

The Gayest Sausage

Antioch, CA

Every summer while I was in college at BYUI, I had a two week break between semesters. During those two weeks I'd drive out to Wisconsin to see my brother, Sister-in-law and the niece. While there my SIL would take me shopping for new clothes ("Sean you're in college now. You need to start dressing like you're in college"). One time we were at Target buying me my first ever POLO style shirt. One of the shirts my SIL had me try on was a red and blue striped polo. I told her I looked gay in it. (I mean that in the nicest way possible.) She told me I was being silly (and rude toward gay people), but eventually relented and didn't make me get it. Several hours later we were at a Brewers game. During one of the innings a bunch of sausages come out and race around the field. As the #2 Sausage came out I turned to Liz and said "See isn't that the Gayest Sausage you've ever seen." She choked on her Mike's Hard lemonade as she laughed.

On Wednesday, I received my birthday gift from my Wisconsin family. In it was the #2 Racing Sausages Mascot sporting his gay red and blue striped shirt. I'm not sure but I think this is in retribution for getting my brother a BYUI Cow Tipping Team T-Shirt.

Inaguration Day

Antioch, CA

I try to not be political on Photo a Day, but I was very happy to be an American today. To see the dreams of Martin Luther King fulfilled and to see our country come full circle from the atrocities of the 1800s - what an amazing day to be an American. I watched as much as I could at home before going to work. Once at work we were left to listening on the radio as the bandwidth for the County's computers were over ran. I came home tonight and listened to the speech one more time and was reminded of what a great country I live in. I loved how Obama reminded us that we are the same hard workers and innovators as we were before this economical crisis. We are the people that put a man on the moon. We are the people who helped two men start a computer company in their garage. We are the people that brought home the Power Soccer World Cup. This hasn't changed since the economic crisis. We've made it through tough times and we will do it again. Because we are Americans.

As icing on the cake, it was nice of MSNBC to show the white moving trucks packing up the last of Bush's crap. Good ridance.

Masquerade

Fremont, CA

I went to a masquerade tonight. There were masked people everywhere. Some were in masks made out of paper machete...others made theirs out of underwear. I didn't wear a mask because I have always thought that masks were a facade.

Happy Birthday Jim

Pleasanton, CA

Today was Jim's 62 Birthday. So I took him to the Cheesecake Factory. Jim doesn't like the whole singing thing, so I ask the waitress to wish Jim a happy birthday. She wished Jim a happy birthday every time she came to our table. Our waitress also had every other person that came to our table (from the bus boys to the kitchen staff to other random people) with Jim a Happy Birthday. It was AWESOME! I had a lot of fun and I know Jim did too.

One of my heroes turned 32 today.
