More Birthday Chocolate

Antioch, CA

My birthday buddy struck again this year. Looking at what I got last year and looking at what I got this year - I'm detecting a theme.

Not pictured is the book I got: "have a little faith" by Mitch Albom. I'm 50 pages in and really enjoying it.

Sugar Plum Ring (minus the plums)

Crescent City, CA

Keeping with my families tradition, Amy and I made a sugar plum ring for breakfast this morning. Unfortunately the dough wasn't ready to be shaped until the afternoon so it wasn't technically for breakfast but it was still good.

the presents have the tree surrounded

Crescent City, CA

In a big change from my personal life, Amy and I drove up to Crescent City today to spend the holidays with her huge family (It's actually not that big except for people like me that are used to spending Christmas with just my dad). Hopefully the next few days won't be too over whelming for me.

Near Vallejo, CA

I'm spending Christmas with Amy's family where I will be introduced to her family's traditions. Tonight I introduced her to one of four traditions my family has of making and giving away Holiday Cookies.

The big meal

San Jose, CA

After several years of non-traditional Thanksgiving Dinners, this year my dad's girlfriend hosted Nina, my dad, and I for a traditional meal. It was very good.

All Saints Day

Antioch, CA

I went to the same cemetery as last year, but it was crowded so I went across the street to a really old cemetery. I felt sorry for these Saints - their cemetery was not well tended to.

There is a party over here a party over there

Antioch, CA

I got home from a date with Amy at 1 AM this morning. When I arrived, the party I was trying to avoid was still in full swing. It ended at about 2:45. I stayed up to help do the initial clean up (over 2/3 of the recycling cart is full of beer bottles). While the party was still going on I took this shot and those in BTC.

(There are 8 bottles of different types of Alcohol in this picture. Can you identify them?)

spider carving

Antioch, CA

For some reason - the first time I saw this I instantly thought of Wylie Coyote. Do you remember when he used to fall off a cliff, he would go through the concrete and the concrete would have his form. For some reason I thought that instead of being carved...that a really big spider fell out of the sky and sliced through the pumpkin on it's way down.

I hope you had an opportunity to vote for Cindy's pumpkin carving contest. As I'm typing this, I believe the polls are closed.

Your time is drawing to a close to vote for your favorite pumpkin at Cindy's Blog. Even though I am not a big fan of Halloween the day its self, I am loving the decorations.

Two Year Anniversary

Pleasanton, CA

Two years ago today on a whim I started a Photo A Day blog. Except for that one day, I've posted a picture a day for the full two years.

Last year I celebrated with Ice Cream in a paper cup. My dad's, now, ex-girlfriend gave us crap about that so this year we went out and got a good meal and cheesecake. Next year I'll just buy a restaurant.

Dwight

Antioch, CA

I celebrated my birthday tonight with Tom's family. They got me a new white shirt for church and this shirt. As the 13 year-old explained "I thought you could look just like Dwight in this shirt."
