you're in my spot

I came home tonight to find this parked on the street where I normally park. I think it just parking there brought the property value of the house way up.

the day after

Last night on her way home from work, my best friend Amy has a left side rear blow out. She was going about 60 MPH when the blow out happened. She fishtailed left then right then left then right one final time before coming to rest is a grove of small trees and bushes. Today in the day light I took a few shots. The back bumper is gone, as is the back window. Amy, thankfully, is rather okay. She strained her back and is off work for a few days, but I have seen similar situations go much worse. By all guesses - the car is totaled, but we'll find out later. If it is totaled, there is one silver lining - what ever junk yard gets this car is going to be rather happy. The engine is in great shape and will fetch a pretty penny.

Just another sunset in Oakley

Oakley, CA

The sun was out all day and it felt wonderful to the face.

The Twain the Twain

Sonoma, CA

Nina needed to go shopping for one last person so today we skipped church and headed North. On our way we stopped at Train Town (one of my favorite "theme" parks) and took a ride. I was very giddy though the experience.

A burning in Pittsburg

Pittsburg, CA
I was all set to give you an update on the etch-a-sketch progress I've been making. But then tonight at 11:00 PM Wall's Rentals and the old Piedmont Lumber went up in smoke. They had fire trucks from every city near by and two ladder trucks.

been busy all day

Oakley, CA

With half of Contra Costa County's fire department off fighting the Corral Fire and the Lockheed Fire, these guys have been pretty busy covering for other units.

Post 800, 799 pictures since day 1.

tread

Vallejo, CA

While technically I'm moved out of my storage units and moved into my house, I can't find my floor or bed, so I'm staying in Vallejo for a few more days. Each Saturday night a semi tractor parks in the drive way. Today I went out to photograph it.

Back to Baker Beach

Baker Beach, SF, CA

I slept through church today, and didn't do much yesterday but hang out in my room and watch movies. I began to get a little stir crazy today and just had to go somewhere and take pictures. So I drove first to Richmond, but it didn't feel right. Then I decided to go to Marin Headlands, but the traffic there was stop and go. So eventually I made it to Northern SF. My dad and I had once gone to Baker beach so I thought I'd return. However, I got lost getting there initially and ended up at China Beach. I took a few shots there before a nice park ranger gave me directions to Baker Beach. I ended up walking both beaches looking for good shots, but also just enjoying the breeze on my face and the sounds of the waves. It was nice to be there.

A sibling of one of my clients left behind a plane today. After being on planes last week, I am now in a plane photography mood.

Church of Motor Cycles

Milwaukee, WI

Instead of going to church today, I went with my brother and his family to the Harley Davidson Museum. I was surprised by how well the museum was put together and organized. I walked away with a whole lot more info than I came in with. Also, I was happy to see it was kid friendly. They had a scavenger hunt for my niece (and for my brother for that matter). It was just a great trip.

Crocket, CA
It was 104 today so I didn't feel like going out taking pictures until the sun was away and the breeze was rearing up.

big boat little boat

Benicia State Park, CA

After dinner tonight I went and hiked the west trail at Benicia State Park. At the end of the trail is this area where you can sit and enjoy the water. I was doing such when suddenly a large boat appeared. It was followed moments later by a tug boat. And like that I was missing Shell. She's inspecting big boats now in Southern CA. I wonder if she inspected this one before it came north.

Vehicular Bugslaughter

Oakley, CA

To help me sleep at night, I've convinced myself that these bugs were carrying west Nile and swine flu and that I had to kill them before they killed me. As I drove the 700 miles I kept trying to figure out why my lights were dimming. It was the dead carcasses dimming my dead lights.
